# Predictions Overview

Predictions lets you trade on the outcome of real-world events — buy **Yes** or **No**, and settle at resolution. Markets are powered by **Polymarket**, the largest prediction-market protocol, traded through the onchain.cc terminal with the same account you use everywhere else.

***

## How prediction markets work

Every market is a question with a defined resolution — *"Will X happen by Y?"* — and two sides:

* Shares are priced in **cents**, from 1¢ to 99¢. The price is the market's implied probability: a Yes share at 62¢ means the market prices a 62% chance.
* When the market resolves, **winning shares pay out $1.00 each**; losing shares expire at zero.
* You don't have to wait for resolution — shares trade continuously on a live order book, so you can take profit or cut a loss whenever the price moves.

**Example:** you buy 100 Yes shares at 40¢ ($40). The event happens → your shares are worth $100 at resolution. It doesn't → they're worth $0. If the odds move to 70¢ before resolution, you can sell for $70 without waiting.

## What you can trade

The discovery page covers the full Polymarket universe, organised by category:

**Politics · Sports · Crypto · Esports · Economy · Finance · Tech · Culture · World · Geopolitics · Elections · Weather** — plus a **Trending** front page and your **Watchlist**.

On top of the category bar you'll find topic filters, search, sorting (volume, liquidity, newest, ending soon, competitive), live sports scores on game markets, a biggest-movers rail, and **Live Crypto** — the recurring short-interval [Up/Down markets](/onchain-docs/predictions/updown.md) on BTC, ETH, SOL, and XRP.

Star any event to pin it to your Watchlist. Card and table views are both available.

## The market page

Each market page gives you the full trading picture:

* **Probability chart** — price history over 1H to all-time ranges
* **Order book** — live bids and asks with depth
* **Order panel** — buy/sell, market/limit, with a payout preview
* **Rules** — the market's exact resolution criteria (read these before trading)
* **Positions & orders** — your exposure in this market
* Multi-outcome events (elections, tournaments) list every outcome with its own price

Prediction markets are unavailable or trade-restricted in some jurisdictions. If you're in one, you'll see a notice — browsing may still work, but placing orders won't. See our [Terms of Use](https://onchain.cc/terms/#restricted) for details.
