# How to Trade Predictions

From funding to your first filled order, in five steps.

***

## 1. Fund your Predictions balance

Predictions trades from its own **USDC balance**, separate from your wallet and from Perps/Spot.

* Open **Transfer** (from the market page, the header balance menu, or Portfolio) and select **Predictions** as the destination.
* Fund from any supported chain — Solana included — and the terminal routes it automatically. **Minimum deposit: $2.**
* Your available balance shows in the order panel. Withdrawals return to your wallet as **USDC.e on Polygon, 1:1, with no onchain.cc fee**.

***

## 2. Pick a market

Browse by category, search, or hit a card straight from Trending. On a multi-outcome event (an election, a tournament), pick the specific outcome you want to trade from the Outcomes list.

Read the **Rules** tab before trading — it states exactly how and when the market resolves. The resolution criteria, not the headline, are what you're trading.
{% endhint %}

***

## 3. Choose your side and order type

* **Buy Yes** if you think it happens; **Buy No** if you think it doesn't.
* **Market order** — fills immediately at the current price. High-impact fills warn you when the book is thin.
* **Limit order** — set your own price in cents; the order rests until the market comes to you (with an optional expiry date).

Enter your size in dollars or as a percentage of your balance. The panel previews **shares, average price, and your payout if you win** before you confirm.

***

## 4. Confirm

Hit the button and the order goes to the book. Market orders confirm in seconds; limit orders appear under **Open Orders**, where you can cancel them any time. On your first order the terminal sets up your trading wallet automatically — a one-time step that takes a few extra seconds.

***

## 5. Manage the position

Your position appears immediately under **Positions** with live value, PnL, and **To Win** (your payout at resolution). From there you can:

* **Sell** — exit the whole position at market in one tap, or use the order panel's Sell tab for a partial or limit exit
* **Add** — buy more at the current price
* **Share** — post your position or a closed trade as a PnL card

See [Positions, Resolution & Claiming](/onchain-docs/predictions/positions-and-claiming.md) for what happens at resolution.

***

## One-Tap mode (Up/Down markets)

Short-interval crypto markets support **1-Tap buys**: three preset amounts ($5 / $25 / $100 by default, editable) that fire a market buy instantly — no confirmation step. Built for rounds measured in minutes. See [Up/Down Markets](/onchain-docs/predictions/updown.md).

{% hint style="warning" %}
Prediction prices move on news, and thin markets move hard. A limit order at your price beats chasing a market order through a moving book.
